Car/Van ECU Remapping in Lincoln, Lincolnshire & Surrounding areas.
This service is available mobile (need access to a plug - 50m extension cable always on the van; and fair 3G signal in the area). Covering many areas including Newark, Ollerton, Gainsborough, Saxilby, Nettleham, Woodhall Spa, Sleaford, Grantham. Also often visit further afield.
ECU Remapping allows you to modify your vehicles software for increased power, better fuel economy as well as solving problems with repeated EML issues.
Pay from only £32.50 per month - 4x monthly payments via ClearPay.
£10 fee applies for ClearPay Finance Option.
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) gets blocked or become ineffecient. They can also become faulty because EGR valves are not functioning correctly.
EGR electrical units can fail. EGR valves can mechanically stick. This can put the vehicle in limp mode, put the EML on, cause DPF faults and much more.
Common failures can be the adblue injection pumps become crystalised and blocked. Injectors can block creating NOX level faults and efficiency codes. Ultimately when the countdown to non-start begins you need to fix the fault before your vehicle stops running.

Lambda sensors measure oxygen levels within the exhaust gasses to allow fuel trim adjustments within the engine. Sensor 2 monitors the catalyst efficiency. Example codes P0420; P0430 effeciency faults.
Only recommend for off-road vehicles as will affect fuel effeciency and emmissions.
Struggling to clear certain P codes? Or do codes keep returning? P codes can be removed. Example codes P253F oil dilution which can cause EML and stop regenerations. Also common P200200 efficiency code. Peugeot can have an upper and lower air flow limit code hard to fully pinpoint aswell as other ghost codes that won't clear, even following a repair.
Pop & Bang on petrols can create the loud 'pop' 'bang' sound during gear changing.
The Diesel equivilent is the Hardcut Limiter which cuts fuel supply at a specified RPM and then reinitiates it to create an equivilent popping noise under heavy acceleration.
Economy Tuning
Increasingly popular with rising fuel prices, new ECU files can be written to the ECU to improve fuel efficiency. The increase in torque will allow less gear changes and accelerator pedal movement thus resulting in improved MPG and driveability. Economy Tuning is for Turbo Diesel vehicles only.
Stage 1 Tuning
Designed for a standard and unmodified vehicle with no hardware upgrades. A Stage 1 Remap increases power and torque while also improving fuel efficiency. Removes flat spots and gives a more responsive drive without compromising reliability.
Stage 2 Tuning
Bigger increase in power and torque than a Stage 1 Remap, efficiency will still improve but not as dramatically as a Stage 1 Tune. Often hardware upgrades are required before a Stage 2 Remap can be applied. I can offer this service where available, but do recommend Stage 2s being undertaken by a company offer Dyno tuning services.
Reading an ECU depends on the vehicle. Some can be done via OBD and some I need to remove the ECU and connect to it directly in which case removing and refitting takes longer.
For ECUs that can be connected via OBD anywhere from 45minutes - 1.5hrs depending on read and write times. For removal usually 1hr - 2hrs. Where there is an Adblue delete, sometimes longer as some vehicles require the Adblue module and/or pump disconnecting.
It may also take longer where further adjustments to files is required. This is rare, but some vehicles, mostly Fords sometimes require adjustments of Checksums if the vehicle rejects the modification. Some Peugeots also need the vehicle locking and leaving for the ECUs to power down before starting the vehicle. All of which is very standard and of no concern.
In short, NO!
Most ECUs can, many cannot. Manufacturers often LOCK ECUs. Many have a workaround so this isn't an issue, but some don't. For example, Transit Custom SID212 hasn't been cracked by any tool supplier yet.
Also, different tool manufacturers have cracked different ECUs, so where my tool will not access your ECU but another tool will, I will refer you to another mapping supplier that might be able to assist instead.
All writes via OBD are made safe by fitting a battery stabiliser unit to the vehicle. This creates a steady voltage and maintains battery charge during an OBD write where significant current is drawn. As such for mobile service, customers are reminded that access to a mains plug socket is required - a 50m extension cable is always on the van to accommodate large driveways or vehicles with onstreet parking.
ECUs in engine bays or footwells - make we aware if theres a risk that they have been contaminated with water or moisture.
Having done hundreds of ECU writes, I haven't had any issues & risks are low. And in most cases, easily solved.
